 Are you sick of buying pants that are always a bit too short and cut off at the ankle or look like high waters? Do your shirts shrink in the wash and never seem to fully cover your torso? 

I know how frustrating it is. Being nearly 6′ tall myself, I’ve struggled the majority of my life to find clothes that fit me. It is hard to find jeans and pants in regular shops that fit my long legs–and let me not even start on trying to find pajamas, yoga pants, shirts that hit me at my hips , or sleeves that fit me like they are supposed to.

 But what defines tall?

 Here are some stats on women’s height:

• the average women in the United States is approximately 5’4
• 5% of women are taller than 5’8
• only 0.7% of females are 5’11 or taller*

That being said, most retailers size their clothing to best fit women between 5’4 and 5’7.

 Since all women do not fit that range, they offer petite (under 5’4) and tall (generally over 5’8) sizing.

However, it’s surprisingly not so easy to find retailers that sell tall women’s clothing! While a lot of department stores do have petite sections, good luck finding them to carry specialty tall sections (and I mean actual tall sections–not just “long” length jeans) which are great for women with longer legs, but not always quite long enough for the really tall ladies out there! (5’11+)
